Spring break was tough due to a close relative passing. Our group wasn'tt able to meet before the break, and have yet to meet as a group since it ended. This Saturday we're planning to shoot in 1 - 3 locations. We'll need to have a production meeting prior to shooting on Satuday so we can define specifically what we intend to shoot. A little good news, I've recieved my new camera (Sony HVRV1U) and have put it through some proper testing, and it seems as though we'll be shooting our project in full HD! And now, about this weekend.
Here's the deal. The equipment room needs more notice to reserve and check out equipment. I can get the extra lapel mic we need for next weekend, but not for this Sat. I may be able to get ahold of a handheld from a friend, but that's just a maybe. The shotgun mic I have works well, and can capture some good street interviews by simply framing properly while still keeping both speaking subjects in front of the mic. What we don't have are the Sony miniDV tapes we need for recording. I have a scratch tape, but would much rather keep all the footage on project specific tapes. I hope to shoot 5-6 tapes for the project, but should only need 1 this weekend. I know we talked about getting together in the afternoon, but I think if we could get together in the morning we may be more successful with people walking their dogs as they wake up. If so, I know a great place we could meet for breakfast and have a production meeting. We could go shoot an hour of footage and be done for the day. If we get together between 9 - 9:30 we could be done by noon.
Whenever we get together will be great. It seems as though we're starting to bond well as a group and I'm excited to see whats in store for the second half of this semester.
